School Vision and Rationale
At Kambrya College we strive to inspire our whole school community to connect with the environment and to make a positive contribution to sustainability at school, home and beyond.
Green Team
Our Green Team is led by Stacey Rindel, Sustainability and Environment Coordinator, who oversees the work of the student leadership Environment Committee and collaborates with Kambrya’s maintenance and facilities staff.
Our Year 9 Darrabi and G.I.R.L.S. re-engagement programs also play an active role in sustainability initiatives and implementation across the college.
-
National Tree Day tree planting to increase biodiversity
-
Recycling of specialty items through drop-off points across the school
-
Improved waste management systems in classrooms and staff offices

ResourceSmart School Partnership
Sustainability at Kambyra is supported by ResourceSmart Schools and facilitators from CERES. ResourceSmart Schools is an award-winning Victorian Government program that assists schools to embed sustainability in everything they do. The ResourceSmart Schools program provides practical support to schools to reduce resource use, make cost savings, integrate sustainability into the curriculum and share learnings beyond the school gate.
Kambrya is progressing through the sustainability modules to enact sustainable change and initiatives that support our school. We currently hold 3 stars, recognised for our work on Biodiversity, Waste and Core sustainability principles.
Our Impact
As a result of our work through the ResourceSmart Schools program, we have achieved measurable savings in electricity, waste, paper and water use. These savings allow funding to be redirected to facility improvements and educational opportunities for students across the college.
